We care.. because we've been there. Sometimes you don't need answers, you just need someone who understands and has time set aside just for you. Our programmes are in built with your needs at the heart. We're interested in you, in what brings you to life and our job is to help inspire you and to open up a world of possibilities to explore.
Established in June 2020 ED was born out of an idea to create a new way of doing education, one that focusses on the individual rather than the group.
Our foundations are built on Love and Logic® and Tim Fletcher's Finding Freedom along with many years of working with children and young people from all walks of life. Our staff are teachers, Forest School practitioners and youth and family support workers and our team of volunteers come from a diverse range of backgrounds. All our staff and volunteers undergo rigorous checks and training to ensure they can support young people effectively.
We use range of record keeping and analysis tools, designed to reduce the need for lots of assessments and paperwork. Our curriculum is inbuilt and staff track children through at their own pace rather than forcing sessions to meet specific curriculum outcomes. We are also able to provide nationally accredited qualifications up to level 4 in a range of subject areas. This means children who regularly attend can walk away with an entry level qualification or higher to add to help them on their journey.
ED is overseen by a group of trustees which includes Betty - who helped get Jamie Oliver's 15 restaurant up and running in Cornwall and with a huge heart for helping young people thrive. Simon - with a strong knowledge of the education system and a background in film production and Tim - who works as a management accountant for the NHS and who is a carpenter, builder and surfer in his spare time.
Our Operations Director Jonathan has worked in outdoor education for his whole career and established Newquay Forest School in 2013. Jonathan is a qualified FE teacher and Forest School trainer.
