EVERYBODY'S DIFFERENT

ED is a youth education charity based in Cornwall. We run from a number of sites across the county, each covering a different area of learning from cooking to construction and from animation to arts and crafts.

The core of the charity is about building strong, healthy people, inspiring young minds with what's possible and equipping them with skills for life.

How it all works:

All our programmes are bespoke to each learner. We will start out with a young person choosing up to 2 subject areas (which can be from completely different areas) and from this we will design an initial programme. If once they start the learner decides they want to swap subject areas they can once per half term (this can be done at any point during the term). If there are different subjects they would like to mix and match then provided it is practical to do so we will look to accommodate.

Every programme is built around two main areas:

1. Personal growth (Understanding self and others, Recognising their own strengths and weaknesses, Being able to recognise and manage any emotional triggers, Feeling empowered and comfortable managing themselves, Understanding boundaries, Caring for themselves and being aware of their feelings, Working in a team and considering the needs of others, Self defence).

2. Skills and learning (Developing a range of industry-ready skills in their area of greatest interest, Inspiring learning through demonstrating potential and through time spent with others engaged in that area, Entrepreneurship skills - Creating their own project, All of our learning areas involve elements of English, maths and science).

Mentoring - Alongside the programme each young person is assigned a mentor, giving opportunities for them to discuss life and any concerns.

Timings - The days typically run from 09:30 - 14:30, however these times can be moved with prior agreement if needs be to allow for transport time or a young person who struggles with certain times of day.

Bad weather options - Where adverse weather conditions make onsite activities unavailable we will provide day visits to: Museums, aquariums, art galleries, play parks and The Eden Project.

All of the services above are currently being run through Newquay Outdoor Education Centre until Everybody’s Different (ED) is ready to take over.
